About Fowl + Fare

If you’re exploring Alameda and someone mentions Fowl + Fare Restaurant, they’re talking about a spot that feels instantly welcoming and easy to enjoy. I usually describe Fowl + Fare as the kind of restaurant you remember after one visit, because it balances flavor, comfort, and convenience without trying too hard. Located at 2534 Santa Clara Ave in Alameda, this place fits naturally into the neighborhood, making it a solid choice whether you’re nearby or planning a casual food stop. The vibe is relaxed and restaurant-forward, so you can drop in for a quick bite or settle in and take your time. What stands out right away is how approachable the menu feels, especially if you’re craving comfort food that still delivers bold, satisfying taste. Fowl + Fare is also known for offering halal food, which adds an extra layer of inclusivity and trust for many diners, while still appealing to anyone who simply wants good food done right. Late-night food options make it even more appealing, especially when hunger hits outside the usual hours and you want something reliable. Service options are flexible too, which honestly makes life easier; you can choose dine-in for a laid-back meal, grab takeaway when you’re in a rush, or opt for delivery when staying in sounds better. Outdoor seating is another nice touch, particularly on those Alameda days when the weather cooperates and eating outside just feels right. I often recommend Fowl + Fare to friends because it doesn’t overcomplicate things; it focuses on quick bites that feel filling, comforting, and consistent every time. Everything about the experience feels straightforward yet thoughtful, which is probably why it works so well for both locals and first-time visitors looking for a dependable restaurant they can come back to again and again.

Hey, have you ever found a place so good you can’t stop going back? That’s Fowl and Fare for me. Since they set up shop in Alameda, I’ve tried everything they’ve got. The man behind it all, Will, is not just awesome at making food; he’s also a big deal in making the community better through what he cooks. Let’s dive into the good stuff. The Jamaican Jerk has just the right kick of spice, while the Charred Lemon Pepper is something special, with its zingy sauce and super juicy chicken tucked into the softest bun you can imagine. And the pear slaw? It’s a game changer, trust me. Now, about where you’ll eat this amazing food. Inside, Fowl and Fare shares space with other cool food spots, so there’s always something for everyone. Prefer the fresh air? Grab a seat at one of the two tables on the patio and enjoy your meal outside. Don’t even get me started on the fries – they come with this unique spice blend that’s a little sweet and totally addictive. In short, if you haven’t been to Fowl and Fare, you’re missing out. It’s easily the best fried chicken sandwich place around here. So here’s what you need to do: Go to Fowl and Fare. Try these favorites. Sit inside or grab a patio spot. And enjoy one of the best meals you’ll have in the Bay Area. Seriously, go. You’ll thank yourself later.

Best specialty fried chicken sandwich I've had the brioche bun was good and held together my massive birria beef and chicken sandwich somehow.$45 for 2 sandwiches and 1 drink Only 2 picnic tables outside to sit at, no inside seating. Place seems to be run by 1 guy (and obviously it's bumpin cause the food is amazing) so don't expect fast service or a place to sit. Difficult to find parking as well

I have never left a review for anything before but just had to after eating one of the sandwiches from Fowl + Fare. I tried the classic and lemon pepper and honestly couldn’t choose which was better. The both were super flavorful and the chicken was tender and just the right amount of crispy. I will definitely be returning!!

Best fried chicken sandwich in the Bay Area. I’ve been going to Fowl + Fare since they operated out of Oakland. The Hot Citric Chicken Sandwich is my go to w/the fries and sauce, 100/10. Highly recommend, plus the owner is so kind and welcoming!

Hands down the best Fried Chicken in the Central Cali. Every aspect of the sandwich is made to be on a higher level than anywhere else. The food only get better as the chefs Creativity has time to develop the flavors even further. Since the location move the Citric hot has gotten more spicy, but still just as deliciously lemony and crunchy as it was before.

Absolutely Worth the Visit! We had been eyeing Fowl and Fare for a while, and finally stopped in, and wow, we were not disappointed. Hands down, this was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. I ordered the Black Garlic and my husband went with the Classic, and both were fantastic. I’m usually really picky when it comes to sauces, and I never like coleslaw, but I decided to try the sandwich as it was intended. I'm so glad I did! The slaw actually added to the flavor without being overpowering, and surprisingly, it’s the only coleslaw I’ve ever liked. Even better, it didn’t make the sandwich soggy at all, which is usually my biggest complaint. The homemade pickles were also a standout, super fresh.Every element of the sandwich felt thoughtful and well-executed. We’ll definitely be back. This place is a gem!

My Son and I went there today for our first time and it definitely won't be the last. He had the Jerk chicken sandwich and I had the Quesabirria Chicken sandwich and they were both packed with flavor. The fries and sauce were seasoned and tasted good as well. I definitely want to try the other ones.

In fear of the long lines I got there early, it was a Friday and I didn’t wanna risk wasting my time. Quick tip: the earlier the better when they done they done. From order to finish it only took about 10min. I got the Original with a side of fries. Next time I think I’ll go for the spicy option but I wanted to be safe on the first try. Original Chicken Sandwich: Brioche Bun, fresh slaw, crispy juicy fried piece of chicken and a house sauce. Fries: well seasoned and crispy fresh
